Cookie Policy
OtagoArcade employs cookies to improve your experience. This policy explains which cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can manage them. We follow best practice standards by obtaining your active consent before deploying non-essential cookies.
1. What are cookies?
When you visit OtagoArcade, your browser stores small text files called cookies on your device. These remember your preferences, enable essential site features, and—with your consent—support our analytics and marketing efforts.
A cookie can be set either by the site itself (first-party cookie) or by a third-party provider (third-party cookie).
2. Categories of cookies
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are necessary for OtagoArcade to function properly. The site cannot operate without them, so your consent isn't required.
- **aeb_consent** — stores your cookie preference so you won't see the banner each time you visit. Kept for: 12 months.
- session-id — a server-side session identifier. Retained for the duration of the session.
2.2 Analytics cookies (optional)
We use these solely with your consent via our cookie banner, allowing us to analyse visitor behaviour and improve our content.
- **_ga, _ga_*** (likely Google Analytics) — anonymised visitor data. Kept for up to 13 months.
If you do not accept analytics cookies, these will not be set in your browser.
2.3 Marketing cookies (optional)
Marketing cookies need your consent to enable targeted advertising. OtagoArcade doesn't currently use marketing cookies, though we'll notify you and update this statement if that changes.
3. Giving and withdrawing consent
The first time you arrive at the site you will see a cookie banner with two choices:
- 'Accept all' — consent to analytics and marketing cookies, should they be available.
- 'Essentials only' — only strictly necessary cookies are set.
Your browser stores your choice for 12 months. You can change this setting anytime by clearing our cookies—the banner will reappear on your next visit.
4. Managing cookies in your browser
You can also manage cookies directly from your browser. In most browsers you can:
- view and delete stored cookies;
- block all cookies, or cookies from specific sites;
- set the browser to notify you when a cookie is set.
Guides for the most common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause issues with the site.
5. Retention
OtagoArcade retains its own cookies for up to 12 months; session cookies are removed once you close your browser. Specific retention timeframes appear in the details above.
6. Updates to this policy
We examine our cookie policy whenever needed—for instance, when launching additional services or adjusting to regulatory shifts. All significant modifications are posted here, and you'll find the most recent update date at the top of this page.
7. Contact
For questions about cookies or privacy, contact us at:

In essence, we use only necessary cookies unless you give consent to analytics or marketing. You can change your preferences at any time.
